Person dies after lawnmower accident

A person has died after a lawnmower accident in Kamo, north of Whangarei, this afternoon.

It is understood the person was trapped in a creek by a lawnmower on Three Mile Bush Rd.

Police spokesman Andy Brill said emergency services were called to the scene about 2.45pm.

"We are at the scene, at this stage we're trying to establish precisely what's happened. It appears it was a lawnmower accident, somebody seems to have been injured in a lawnmower crash," he said.

St John spokesman Allan Rhodes said one person had died in the incident.

It is not clear whether the person was dead when the ambulance arrived.

No other details have been released, he said.

It is the second fatal lawnmower accident in just over a week.

Peter Ross Bailey, known as Ross Bailey, died when he was pinned under his ride-on lawnmower in a small creek on his rural Taranaki property on October 25.
