One of four young people charged with the aggravated robbery of a service station in Whangarei has pleaded guilty.
Leo Matthew Moses, 19, yesterday admitted in the Whangarei District Court to a charge of the aggravated robbery of the Gull service station in Otaika.
His alleged accomplice, Jordan Edmonds, 17,denied the charge and elected a trial by jury.
Edmonds was denied bail despite his father's presence in court as Judge Greg Davis said the offence was serious and the proposed bail address was about 600m away from the service station.
Edmonds' lawyer, Chris Muston, said his client denied pulling a knife during the robbery on December 30. Edmonds is in custody until March 24.
The 16-year-old male appeared in the Youth Court last week and was remanded on bail to reappear in the Youth Court on Friday.
A Gull service station attendant had a knife held to his throat before $250 cash and $500 worth of cigarettes were taken from the premises on December 30 last year.
