Northland's rising swimming stocks will be on show at the 2018 National Age Group Championships in Auckland this week.

Eighteen of Northland's top swimmers, up on 11 from last year, head to the Sir Owen Glenn National Aquatic Centre on the North Shore and will join around 700 swimmers from around the country in a five day battle for supremacy.

Northwave's Ciara Smith is the leading threat from the North, ranking top in the country in three breaststroke events in the 16-18 year old age bracket.

The 17-year-old is also in the top 10 in her other events - the 200m and 400m individual medleys.

One of the youngest competitors could be in for a strong showing.

Bay of Island's Emilia Finer (13) qualified to swim at all events in her age group at the competition and has chosen to take on all eight.

She is ranked inside the top 10 for 100m and 200m butterfly, 400m and 800m freestyle, and the 200m individual medley.

Teammate Kori Brown (14) is ranked in the top 10 for 100m and 200m breaststroke.

Annabell Simpson (17) is ranked in the top 10 for her three backstroke events, second in 200m back.

Bream Bay's Paul Linton (17) is ranked in the top 10 in the 16-18-year age group for 50m back.
