Northlanders come up short at NZ Intercentre event

There was no success for either the Northland Men or Women's 1-8 Representative teams at Christchurch last weekend in the NZ Intercentre event.

The Men finished in third place in their section with six wins, but unfortunately for the women they managed two and a half wins. The players will have learnt a lot from the experience and no doubt will take this forward into next season.

The NZ titles went to North Harbour (Men) and Dunedin (Women).

Centre has set the annual awards night for 2017 as June 10. Please check into the Centre website and vote on the format that you would like to see for this evening.

The Centre AGM has been set down for the June 18, Clubs please ensure that your delegates for this meeting are appointed and attend.

Clubs and players are reminded that nominations for positions as Selectors, Managers, Coaches, High Performance panel, Operations Committee close on May 1.

Nominations for Northland Bowls Sports Awards have been extended to May 15 at the completion of our Centre Champion of Champion events.

The Centre fixtures for this season are almost completed with the Champion of Champion events to be finalised. Venues for these events will be notified to clubs within the next few days.

The Regional 1-5 Interclub Sixes will also be played at the Hikurangi greens on Saturday May 6 with the Arapohue Club representing Northland.

The Northland Coaching Association and the Northland Umpires Association also have fund raising tournaments in May. Please support these organisations by entering each event. Coaching Association entries to Sue Wightman and Umpires entries to Bruce Scott.

The Centre and Club Open tournament programs have been forwarded to all Clubs. Please ensure that these have been passed on to your Match Committee personnel so that any changes that you wish to make can be applied for to the Centre Operations Committee.

Open tournaments for this next week are: 15/16 Dargaville Triples;16th Kensington Triples; 18th Maungakaramea AC Triples; Onerahi AC Triples; 19th Maungaturoto AC Triples; 20th Hikurangi AC Triples. Saturday 22nd the World Master Games which include bowls commence in Auckland and continue until the 28th.
