Swimming results:

Northland results from the first day (April 16) of the 2019 National Age Group Championships in Wellington.

Ciara Smith (18, Northwave) won the first gold medal for Northland in 50m breaststroke. She was ranked first going into the final where she touched just three split seconds ahead of the Jasi Swimming Club's Kaylee Jackson to claim first place.

Northwave's Tyler Jepsen, 14, had an excellent first day, qualifying for two finals – 400m free and 100m back. He won bronze in the 400m free and impressively came home in second place in 100m back to claim silver.

Other Northland swimmers to make finals on the first day were Emilia Finer (14, Bay of Islands) 8th in 200m butterfly and Quin Walden (14, Northwave) who placed 9th in 100m backstroke.

Squash results:
Ten Northland junior players competed in the Oceania Junior Championships which were held at the Remuera Squash Club in Auckland over the weekend.

Natalie Sayes: 1st - U15 girls (formerly of Northland)
Annmarie Holst: 4th - U19 girls
Riley-Jack Vette-Blomquist: 5th - U17 boys
Tane Trail: 6th - U11 boys
Devlin Gurr: 9th - U17 boys

Josh Laing: 10th - U13 boys

NZ Mixed Fours (April 14)

1st - Don Simpson, Kia Ward, John Colman, Kath Love - 4 wins, 28.5 ends, 44 points

2nd - Chris Watson, Judy Bethell, Kenny Ashby, Colleen Harvey - 3 wins, 24 ends, 48 points

Don, Kia, John and Kath will travel to Auckland In July to contest the zone final.

Whangārei Indoor Bowling Association

Sixteen Whangārei B players travelled to Kerikeri to compete against the Bay of Islands (April 13).

Whangārei won with 77 win points, 247.5 ends, 432 points

Bay of Islands 67 win points, 243.5 ends, 417 points
