Kiwi road trip
Tourism New Zealand is encouraging Australian holiday makers to go on a road trip around New Zealand, including Northland, in spring in its latest digital campaign – Great New Zealand Road Trips. TNZ has produced a series of videos that capture four road trip experiences from around the country, including a Northland-based trip from Russell to Takou Bay in Northland. Over the next six weeks it runs Australians will get a taste of what they can experience by taking their time to travel around New Zealand's regions in spring.

SH11 closure
State Highway 11 past the Lemons Hill slip will be closed on Sunday to allow removal of trees from the hillside. The road will be closed between 8am–5pm and motorists will have to use the detour route via SH1, 10 and 11. Drivers should allow up to 30 minutes extra for the journey between Kawakawa and Paihia. The road opened 24 hours a day to one-way traffic on Wednesday under the control of stop/go traffic managers. It will be open again 24/7 from Sunday at 5pm.
