Honour for CEO
Top Energy chief executive Russell Shaw has been made a Fellow of Engineering New Zealand in recognition of his expertise and leadership over the past decade. Top Energy Trust chairwoman Yvonne Sharp said since taking on the role, Shaw had set about improving the reliability and resilience of the electricity network. "From the outset, he focused on safety, business improvement and core business operations, and implemented network and generation growth strategies of around $430 million." His initiatives included a major expansion of the Ngāwhā geothermal power station, which would ultimately provide more than enough electricity to meet the Far North's needs. His Fellowship was awarded in Wellington on March 29.
Winning ticket claimed
A Lotto spokesperson has confirmed the ticket sold at Sunnyside Foodmarket in Kamo, which won $200,000 in First Division in the draw on March 27, has been claimed. The winning ticket was sold the in the same week the store sold an Instant Kiwi scratchie also worth $200,000.
