Beach driving banned

To report dangerous driving on beaches call police; or the Department of Conservation’s 0800 DOCHOT number if wildlife is being disturbed, and NRC if there is damage to sand dunes/destruction of vegetation.
Peanut trials end
The Northland Peanut Trials project came to an end this year following a variety of trial activity occurring across both the Far North and Kaipara districts over the last three growing seasons. The project tested the commercial viability of growing hi-oleic peanuts in Northland. In the final season of the trial about 5ha of peanuts were planted across six sites located in Houhora, Awanui, Pouto, Kai Iwi Lakes and two in Te Kopuru. Northland Inc says the project yielded positive results.
