Hopetoun Brown plays across Northland this weekend.

Hopetoun Brown and the Genius of Finn Scholes – AOTNZ tour April-June
Horn-heavy duo and 2017 Taite Prize finalists Hopetoun Brown are joined on stage by arguably the country's finest trumpet player, Finn Scholes. Throughout two energetic sets they'll swap trumpets, saxophones, bass clarinets, tubas, trombones and an assortment of
strange keyboard instruments in a programme that moves through blues, soul, funk, jazz, Americana, and stomp. Hopetoun Brown plays at Te Ahu Centre, Kaitaia, tonight from 7pm, at Riverbank Centre, Reyburn House Lane, Whangārei, from 7.30pm tomorrow.

This Way North returns
Melbourne duo This Way North releases its latest EP Vol. 2, a must-have soundtrack for weekend road-trips and weeknight lounge-room dance parties. The release of EP Vol. 2 will see This Way North return to New Zealand to spend the first half of June performing on their official EP release tour. They play at the Butter Factory, Whangārei, tonight from 8pm.

Tree planting in Tikipunga
Whitebait Connection is leading planting days at Tikipunga Sports Park to connect communities with taking action to improve their fresh waterways. It needs the support of as many people as possible to make it a success. The group will be planting around 1500 plants at Tikipunga park (near Kiripaka Rd entrance) from 8am to 12 noon tomorrow. What to bring: A few friends or family members to help, spade and gloves if you have them, plus full water bottle, sunscreen, lunch, closed shoes, parka, hat, change of clothes, plastic bag for clothes.

Farmer's Market in Paparoa Village
The Paparoa Farmer's Market is held on Paparoa Village Green, State Highway 12, Paparoa, Kaipara, tomorrow from 9am-12 noon. The popular weekly farmer's market in Paparoa will have a wide range of produce on sale, including cheese, bread, smoked fish, sea food, olive oil, preserves, eggs, fruit and veg, flowers, hot food and crafts. Live music and community stall.
