Northland candidate: Mel Taylor

Northland candidate: Mel Taylor

My name is Mel Taylor.

My husband Jim and I work frontline as specialist caregivers. We take high at-risk youth into our home, and have cared for over 400 youth over 15+ years.

THE GOVERNMENT DOESN'T TRUMP FAMILY
At the Conservative Party, we firmly believe that strong families provide the foundation
for strong societies!

The breakdown we see in society is more related to broken relationships than the lack of finances.

It is apparent to us that investing in relationship training and communication skills will have much better, long term benefits to New Zealand, than throwing an ever increasing budget at problem areas.

AVOID ELECTED DICTATORSHIP: IT'S TIME FOR THEM TO LISTEN!
Our current elected representatives are being more influenced by small pressure groups than actually representing their people.

We are confident that our Binding Citizens Initiated Referenda policy will act as a veto on the government succumbing to noisy activists and give New Zealand a true democracy where MPs do represent the voters.

IT'S A MATTER OF LIFE AND DEATH (Euthanasia and Abortion)
We believe in the value of life and oppose legalising euthanasia as we see the harm this has caused overseas and the way these laws are so easily flouted. Our elderly and infirm need to be cared for and affirmed not erased.

It seems hypocritical to train doctors for years to save lives, and then demand they destroy them.

We recognise that life starts at conception and that any laws that seek to make it easier to terminate life should be opposed on the basis that human life counts.

VOTE CONSERVATIVE
Low Transaction Tax, Youth Boot Farms, Justice, Family and Democracy. Our policies on these, and more, can be found at www.conservativeparty.org.nz.

Finally, please remember that the only wasted vote is the vote that does not align with your convictions!
