More than 100 people attended the Centre prizegiving and awards night.

More than 100 people attended the Centre prizegiving and awards night.

Last weekend more than 100 people attended the Centre prizegiving and it is congratulations to all winners and runners-up of events for 2016-17.

These prizes were followed by the Centre Awards recognising excellence in all facets of the sport and were awarded as follows:

Team/Side of the Year: Maungaturoto Open triples team of David Eades, Kevin Robinson and Wayne Wrack.

Coach of the Year: Ann Muir, Kensington

Female Player of the Year: Maree Attwood, Kensington

Male player of the Year: Wayne Wrack, Maungaturoto

Greenkeeper of the Year: Wayne Neal, Mangawhai

Administrator of the Year: Gwen Lawson, Hikurangi

Service to Bowls: Allan Lewin, Kensington.

Gold Stars for obtaining five Centre titles: Sara Wright, Hikurangi; Pam Brewster, Kensington, Diane Strawbridge, Kensington; Karen Horscroft, Kensington.

NZ Certificates were presented to: Maungaturoto Triples team of David Eades, Kevin Robinson & Wayne Wrack, winners triples; Kensington Pair of Gordon Bond and Dean McMurchy, second in pairs final; Diane Strawbridge - third in the singles finals at NZ Club Championships.

The Centre annual general meeting will be held on Sunday at Bowls Whangarei at 1pm. Clubs are asked to ensure that their delegates are in attendance.

The Centre handbook is now in preparation for the 2017-18 season.

You are reminded that we would like any open tournament dates that you would like to change be in to the operations committee by the end of June, with your club page for the booklet.

Please ensure that your club officials are included.
