Wahine Toa 1 cemented their position at the top of the premier reserve netball table heading into the three-week finals format.
The side worked hard for a 42-30 win over Manawanui Collegiate Red after losing Saturday's first quarter by a goal, but then pulling ahead by nine at halftime.
WahineToa 1's Maria Dick was a workhorse at goal attack, playing smart and skilful netball.
Goal keep Renee Himiona put sustained pressure on the shooters, forcing a lot of turnover ball. Wing defence Te Ewinga Wharewaka made life challenging for the Manawanui Collegiate attackers.
Collegiate's Kaea Robinson (goal keep) was outstanding and was ably assisted by Shekania Cherrington (goal defence).
Manawanui Red put in a good defensive performance with Janice Brown (goal keep) and Ari Ihaka (goal defence) making life tough for the Marist shooters. The midcourt combination of Shannon Te Ao (wing defence), Te Aroha Palmer (centre) and Kyla Williams (wing attack) was effective.
Gail Shepherd (goal attack) shot with accuracy and Tegan Musgrove - playing at goal shoot in the second half - had her best game of the season. Marist had only the bare seven players after an early injury to their shooter, but worked hard.
CF Marist finished the round in third place.
The final game between KHS 1 and Beds R Us Marist ending in a 36-36 draw with KHS 1 ranked fifth and BRU Marist sixth going into the finals round.
