Saphire Connelly-Parry at goal shoot for WGHS 10-1 takes a ball under strong defence from Hora Hora's Harono Te Iringa (GK).

Saphire Connelly-Parry at goal shoot for WGHS 10-1 takes a ball under strong defence from Hora Hora's Harono Te Iringa (GK).

The fifth and final week of the preliminary round for premier reserve netball saw Fideliter 2 edge out Marist 2 in very wet conditions.

Marist's 4-point loss saves them from promotion-relegation next week.

For Fideliter 2, Katelyn Gunson was the player of the day at goal shoot where she moved well off the ball and positioned herself close to the goal.

Anna Pascoe at wing defence in the first half settled the team well, resetting the play to ensure possession.

Kerri Boyt was feisty at centre, chasing loose ball and fighting for possession around the circle edge.

On defence Ruth Prime had an exceptional game, often coming up with intercepts and turnover ball.

For Marist 2, Hayley Cassidy at wing defence had a strong showing along with Germaine Gibson at goal attack and Rebecca Simper at goal shoot.

Wahine Toa Whero weren't so lucky and with a loss to Manawanui Development they will be in promotion-relegation next week.

Wahine Toa Whero, in really wet conditions, were competitive in the first half but were not able to sustain this in the second.

At halftime Manawanui Development led by seven goals but a big final quarter saw them win by a large margin, 56-26.

For Manawanui Development, Havana Connelly at wing defence had a great game and she was ably assisted by Kapua Harris-Otene at goal defence.

Ngaire-Ani Mehana and Annastassia Larkin at centre combined well and offered good ball to the shooters.

For Wahine Toa Whero, Pare Kingi playing up at centre was the player of note.

Hora Hora 1 is through to promotion-relegation unbeaten after another win over the younger WGHS 10-1 team in horrible conditions.

Hora Hora 1 led from start to finish and won every quarter. The final score was 43-17.

For Hora Hora 1, Harono Te Iringa as a day player made an impact in defence combining well with Angela Wiki.

The Valli sisters, Tracee and Leah, in mid-court were relentless in putting good pressure on and linking well with captain Marama Flay-Alker at centre.
