An exciting day of netball was prematurely ended with an unexpected building alarm.
The alarm sounded near the end of the third quarter in the last game of the evening between Active Refrigeration Fideliter 1 and WGHS Snr 1.
Both sides agreed to call off the match.
Fideliter were ahead50-26, and it was unlikely that there would be a change to the lead if the game was played to its conclusion.
WGHS started the game well, scoring from most of their centre passes, but as the game progressed Fideliter started to intercept ball, breaking the WGHS pass more regularly.
The talented Fideliter side showed their versatility by moving players to different positions.
Whangaruru Premiers comprehensively beat Huanui College Silver 62-21, despite a very low scoring and uncharacteristic second quarter that was drawn seven all.
In the end, the more aggressive and experienced Whangaruru side had the upper hand over the schoolgirls.
The Manawanui Club clash also resulted in predictable fashion with the White team winning 74-45 over Red.
In a completely opposite second quarter to the Whangaruru game, Manawanui White put together an almost faultless second quarter over their club mates putting 24 points on the board to Red's 10.
Nevertheless Red took a lot of positives from the game and in particularly Shannon Te Ao provided leadership in the mid court first at wing deference and then at centre.
