A Northland highway is blocked and a driver is trapped after a milk tanker crash this afternoon.
The milk tanker rolled on State Highway 14, Maungatapere, near Snooks Rd, taking down power lines at about 2.40pm today, police said.
Acting senior sergeant Stephanie Hudson said the driver was trapped whileemergency services were waiting for the power company to confirm the lines were no longer live.
Ms Hudson said the road is blocked and north and southbound traffic is being diverted through Mangakahia Rd and Tatton Rd.
UPDATE 4.50: The driver has been freed and is uninjured. The road will be blocked for at least another 3 hours, police say.
