Microlight plane crashes into paddock at Kaikohe, Northland

A microlight plane has crashed in a field near the Northland town of Kaikohe this afternoon.

A police spokesperson said they were advised that a microlight plane had crashed in a paddock near Kaikohe at around 3pm.

“The microlight plane has crashed near SH12.

“Fortunately the sole occupant has been assessed as having moderate injuries.”

A Fire and Emergency NZ spokesperson said a call was received just after 3pm about a microlight crashing in a paddock.

“We sent two fire trucks to the scene, one from Kaikohe and another from Ōkaihau.”

A Hato Hone St John spokesperson said the service was notified of the incident at 2.57pm.

“One rapid response unit and one ambulance have responded.”

One patient in a minor condition was assessed and treated at the scene, the spokesperson said.
