Police have arrested a 21-year-old man following the aggravated robbery of a Whangarei Post Shop.

Allegedly two masked men carrying a firearm entered the Otaika Lotto and Post Shop on Otaika Rd about 4.30pm on Friday.

There were three staff members and some members of the public in the shop at the time, police say.

The men managed to get some cash from the shop and then left on foot through a walkway towards Ashley Av.

A stolen vehicle linked to the robbery was located by police a short while later.

The 21-year-old man, who was arrested on Saturday, appeared in the Whangarei District Court today on a charge of aggravated robbery.

Police would like anyone who witnessed the robbery or has any other information relating to the incident to come forward.
