A lucky Whangarei Lotto player is $5.5million richer after winning Lotto's Powerball First Division last night.

The winning ticket was sold at Sunnyside Foodmarket in Whangarei and is made up of $5 million from Powerball First Division and $500,000 from Lotto First Division.

This win comes just a week after a young couple from the Hibiscus Coast in Auckland won $44million with Powerball First Division on Wednesday - the largest prize ever won in New Zealand.

Another Lotto player from Papamoa also won $500,000 last night.

Meanwhile, Strike Four rolled over tonight and will be $200,000 on Saturday.
