Four men have been arrested after a Northland house was allegedly stormed and the occupants subjected to a prolonged attack.

Police alleged the victims were assaulted with a golf club, burned with a gas lighter, and slashed with razor blades

The four have been charged with unlawfully detaining and assaulting the occupants of the Paihia house.

Frank Rota, 40, a concrete worker of Hikurangi, Jason Wiremu Williams, 36, a plasterer of Christchurch, and Linton McIntyre, 56, have already appeared in court and further remanded in custody without plea.

Rota appeared in the Whangarei District Court yesterday, Williams in Christchurch District Court on Friday, and McIntyre in Kaikohe District Court on May 31.

A fourth person has yet to appear.

All four have been jointly charged with the commission of a crime with a firearm, four of kidnapping, four of wounding with intent to cause grievous bodily harm, and two of aggravated robbery.

Items allegedly stolen included clothes, $1050, shoes, CCTV cameras, a CCTV monitor, a set of kitchen knives, and iPhones.

The alleged incident happened in Paihia on March 10 and police say four people were assaulted.

Williams, Rota and the person who has not appeared yet, will appear in Kaikohe District Court on June 27.

McIntyre will re-appear for a bail application tomorrow. No pleas have been taken from any of the four accused.
