Kerikeri benefited from Forrest Hill's inability to get a team up to the mid-north and the visiting side were forced to default. It was a hollow win for Kerikeri who's participation in cup competitions now sees them with a growing backlog of unplayed Northland Premier League fixtures.
Kamo, in contrast, hit their straps in their match against West Auckland. They comfortably beat the visitors 5-1 in what coach Owen Liiv said was one of their best performances of the season.
"We played really well today, it was a performance to be proud of ... particularly by Sam Rout and Nathan Steel in the engine room but it was a great team effort," he said.
Calvin Erick scored the opening goal and despite Kamo's first half dominance, it was the only goal of the half. Kamo's missed opportunities came back to haunt them shortly into the second spell when West Auckland equalised but a goal to Joe Luiten followed soon after by a great goal to Keegan Baddeley spared Kamo's blushes.
Kyle Mack capitalised on a defensive lapse to nip in for a cheeky fourth before Mike Smith finished the scoring in the final minute - a fair reward for his accuracy at the set-piece throughout the day.
There was only one Northland Premier Grade match with Kaitaia beating Central Brown 4-3 in a exciting match at Otaika Park.
There was a goalless stalemate in the top of the table Northland Division One clash between Kamo Reserves and Tikipunga Pet Essentials. The result leaves Kamo two points clear of Tikipunga. Madhatters are in third place ahead of Kerikeri in fourth.
