International award for Paihia B&B

Inge Amsler, who has owned Chalet Romantica for 23 years, trained in hospitality and grew up in a hotel in Austria.

Inge Amsler's dedication to guests may be why her Bay of Islands bed and breakfast has won an international award.

Chalet Romantica in Paihia has been ranked in the top 10 properties in Oceania in the Booking.com awards.

The awards run by the accommodation website are based on verified reviews and go only to properties ranked as outstanding.

Ms Amsler said the award was a reflection of all the hard work put in.

"I'm passionate about providing guests professional hospitality and welcoming them into our home," she said.

"I'm a bit personal, I spend time learning about the guests and what they want to do and offering them advice about what they can do here."

Ms Amsler, who has owned Chalet Romantica for 23 years, trained in hospitality and grew up in a hotel in Austria.

"Growing up in Austria, my parents ran a hotel so I've always been involved in hospitality and like to think I know what makes a good experience for guests," she said.

The bed and breakfast has four bedrooms and boasts an indoor heated pool, hot spa, and views over the Bay of Islands.

Ms Amsler said her favourite thing about running the bed and breakfast was the people.

"It's meeting guests, providing them an excellent service and looking after them."
