Indoor Bowls: New season looking to start strongly

Indoor bowling season has started strongly.

The opening of the 2018 indoor bowling season saw bowlers from all over Whangarei turn out to compete at their local clubs this week.

There are 10 local clubs affiliated to the New Zealand Indoor Bowling Association in the Whangarei area and all meet once a week between March and September each year.

New members are welcome at all clubs with flat soled shoes and a sense of humour being the only requirements. The bowls are supplied by the clubs. It is a game suitable for all ages.

The Kauri Club is hosting the Eilean Riceman Memorial Drawn Fours tomorrowwith a full compliment of players.

Funds from the day will go to the Make A Wish Foundation.

Trials for the 2018 Northland Representative team will happen on Sunday at Toe Toe Rd with their first away game in Pukekohe on April 7.
