Ilich sale delayed

The mortgagee sale of a dairy farm on Hikurangi swamp has been delayed a week. Real estate agent Tony Grindle confirmed the sale of Tanekaha Ilich Farms, on Hukerenui Rd, had been postponed until next Friday.

The auction was to have taken place at Bayleys office in Whangarei at 1pm yesterday and creditors only discovered it had been postponed hours before.

"We have been instructed by the mortgagees that they cannot proceed and they have asked it be delayed for seven days," Mr Grindle said.

"We have to act on behalf of the vendor and in this case it is the mortgagees."

The Northern Advocate revealed this week a string of creditors are owed tens of thousands of dollars by those involved with the 185ha dairy farm.

Claims have been made including non-payment of bills for grazing, farm machinery and rural contractors, and are against Jack Ilich, his son Andrew and grandson Stefan. Repeated requests by the Northern Advocate to speak with the Ilich family have been declined.

It is not the first time the farm has been listed for a mortgagee sale. In July this year advertisements appeared in media publications but the farm was not sold. The Northern Advocate approached Jack Ilich for comment about the debts owed. He said, that due to three floods last year, they had been put under financial strain but would not comment further.
