Henry Harris gang murder trial set for next September

Three men accused of murdering a fellow gang member, and others charged in relation to the death of Henry "John Boy" Harris, will stand trial in September, next year.

Walter Reid Ngaau, 55, Nicky Bryan Dodd, 41, and his brother, Adam Owen Dodd, 40, have each been charged with the murder of Tribesmen gang member Mr Harris on October 18, last year.

Mr Harris, 37, died after being dropped off at Whangarei St John Ambulance Station early on October 18 last year with a gunshot wound.

All three murder-accused appeared in the High Court at Whangarei yesterday before Justice Kit Toogood and were further remanded in custody to reappear on callover in December.

A trial date has been set for September 17, 2018, with the trial set to last four to six weeks.

Ngaau is also charged with two counts of wounding with intent to cause grievous bodily harm. Adam Dodd also faces two charges of wounding with intent to cause grievous bodily harm and one of theft of a motor vehicle.

Nicky Dodd is also charged with two charges of wounding with intent to cause grievous bodily harm and one of obstructing or perverting the course of justice.

Also appearing yesterday in relation to the alleged murder were Brezzin Anne Doyle, 39, and Chayce Hayward-Dodd, 27, both charged with being an accessory after the fact to murder.

Another woman, who has interim name suppression, appeared charged with being an accessory after the fact to murder. The trio were remanded on bail until February.

Another man, Walter Franks, appeared yesterday charged with theft of a motor vehicle and was remanded in custody until October 12.
