Trees laden with fruit are all over Northland

Trees laden with fruit are all over Northland

I have watched the laden fruit trees on my way to work over a period of two years.
I keep telling myself I need to write to the newspaper and let them know how much fruit is wasted annually.

Take a drive around the Kensington, Regent and Kamo areas just for a start.

You will see trees laden with fruit and this fruit sadly gets ignored and left to rot on the ground.

Northland schools are always bemoaning the fact that the school children have no breakfast or decent food to eat and that they are always cold and sick over the winter months.

What if every owner of a fruit tree, let alone several, picked the fruit and dropped it in at a central collection point or the closest school. It's time the community learned to pull together instead of waiting for someone else to do something.
