Further to "Going to the dogs", Saturday, January 17, I agree with G Brackenbury "how sad it is to see one of Whangarei's gems" not being properly maintained.
Russell Rd in Kensington also falls into this category - the drive/walk from the bypass to the Quarry Gardens is a disgrace with the WDC no longer maintaining its property here.
A lot of money was spent a few years ago putting in a new entrance to the Coronation reserve in Russell Rd, but again there seems to be no money to keep it in presentable condition - the weeds have now almost obliterated part of the path from the road to the trees.
The parks and reserves department must be ridiculously under funded if they are unable to maintain our existing treasures.
Not at all a good look for our visitors and tourists.
