Local are urging holiday-makers to keep the beaches clean.

In this beautiful summer holiday weather people like to go swimming. Imagine our dismay to find our beach in the Bay up North littered with used toilet paper. Yuck!

Even though boats are fitted with sewage tanks, these need to be monitored and emptied when full as they will overflow, and guess where?

It is a disgusting sight and also precludes people from gathering the abundant pipi and cockles on the shoreline for fear of food poisoning.

Many Kuia friends like to have a feed of kaimoana and we are happy to gather them but not at this beach this summer! It is far too risky.

Come on boaties, you enjoy the water so keep it clean for others as well.
