A Whangarei woman says security cameras should be installed in a central city carpark after two vehicles she owned were stolen and an expensive battery was taken from another in just over a year.
Nicole Lunn said all her vehicles had been parked in the carpark off Hatea Dr, in Whangarei, and she reckons the area should be included in the council's camera surveillance system or at least have bold signs warning motorists of thieves.
Last year, on January 5, her Mazda 323 was stolen then, on November 4, her son's Subaru Legacy was taken. On January 8 this year, a $300 battery was removed from her Toyota Hilux.
"I do see a lot of glass on the ground there and I wonder how many other cars have been broken into," Mrs Lunn said.
"We have to pay money to park there now. Maybe some of that can be invested in cameras."
