Whangarei Academy of Gymnastics' Step 6 competitor Chloe Campbell takes to the floor to impress judges during the Northland Championships.

The Northland gymnastics championships were a vaulting success with competitors from as far north as Kaitaia making the trip to Kensington's ASB Sports Arena for the competition.

With over 150 competitors entered, participants represented clubs from Kaitaia, Kerikeri, Bay of Islands, Kerikeri, Mahurangi, Parua Bay's Fantastic Gymnastics club and the Whangarei Academy of Gymnastics (WAGS).

WAGS head coach Vicki Macdonald, an official for the competition, hailed the event as a roaring success.

"We've got some really good gymnasts and talented young ones coming through as well," she said. "We had some good volunteers, great support and a good competition spirit."
