Entries for the Centre Open Pairs for men and women close today. Venues for this event will be Onerahi, Mt Manaia, Kensington & Whangarei.

The winners of these events will play in the New Zealand finals in Dunedin later in the season.

Remember that prizes are being presented for these events and this will be done at the Centre's major awards evening at the end of the season. Names of those entered will be on the website from this weekend.

Centre Open representatives: The following playing squads have been selected to meet Far North, North Harbour and Auckland in a representative fixture to be held on December 11 at Whangarei and Kensington greens.

Players announced are: Women: Sue Wightman, Mangawhai; Leanne Stewart, Manu Timoti, Hikurangi; Diane Strawbridge, Maree Attwood, Maureen Parker, Lauren Mills and Karen Horscroft, Kensington. Men: Gordon Bond, Dean McMurchy, Kensington; Dennis Brewster, Hikurangi; Alistair Trimmer, Kamo; Steve Smith, Sam Nelson, Whangarei; Colin Wintle, Mangawhai.

Local results: Twenty teams took part in the Hikurangi 2x4x2 pairs held last week and the winners were Peter Mitchell & Noelene James (Hikurangi) with 4 wins, 27 ends, 52 points, 2nd were Sharon Rudman, Jill Stewart, (Waipu), 4 wins, 20 ends, 41 pts, 3rd Graham Neeley, Dave Kerr (Kamo) 3 wins, 21 ends, 39 pts.

Upcoming tournaments: The Club Championships are scheduled for this Saturday and Sunday, Dargaville Mx Triples Sunday, October 23, Kensington AC Triples on Monday, October 24, Dargaville AC Pairs, & Ngunguru AC Triples, Tuesday, October 25; Leigh Mens Triples, Maungatapere AC Triples Wednesday, October 26; HIkurangi AC Triples (with lunch) & Ruawai AC Triples; Thursday, October 27, One Tree Point Women's triples Friday, October 28.
