Last weekend saw the Northland Representative teams compete in Auckland with mixed results.

The years 1-5 men and women competed against North Harbour, Auckland and Waikato at the Pakuranga greens.

Auckland won the men's division with Northland fourth and North Harbour were successful in the women's event with Northland finishing third.

In the years 1-8 competition was between Northland, North Harbour, Auckland & Counties Manukau. Auckland were successful in both men and women's competition with Northland finishing third (men) and fourth (women).

A 'friendly' competition was also played in the open divisions. Northland had some representative players competing in the regional events being held this week at the Onerahi Club and other players were given the opportunity to play in this strong competition.

North Harbour men were successful and Auckland tasted success in the women's division.

Northland 1-8 representative teams will now compete in the New Zealand National finals this weekend in Auckland. Good luck to all.

Meanwhile, at the local Onerahi greens, the Region One regional finals for club competition were being held.

Mixed pairs started on Sunday and this resulted in success for the North Harbour combination of Tony Grantham and Trish Coot, who will be our area representatives at the finals at Browns Bay.

Monday saw inclement weather force the cancellation of the Region One singles which were rescheduled for yesterday (Wednesday).

Tuesday saw the open pairs for men and women finalised. The men's section was won by Dusty Reader and Steve Smith who will play in the NZ finals.

The women's section was won by the North Harbour combination of Lisa Parlane and Anne Dorreen.

Triples and singles were played yesterday and the competition will be finalised today with the fours for men and women being played.

Reminder: Entries close on March 20 for Centre Champion of Champion events. If you intend your club to be represented, please forward your entry now and if you have not finalised the event, send in the names of teams later.

Entries are also wanted for the Centre President's Day competition to be held on March 28 at Bowls Whangarei. This event is any combination and please send in your entries to the Centre Office or by the Centre website now.

Club events this week: Fri 16th One Tree Pt AC Triples; 17/18 Onerahi AC Triples; Mon 19th Mt Manaia MX Triples; Tue 20th Whangarei AC Triples; Wed 21st Hikurangi AC Triples; 22-25 NZ Inter Centre finals, Christchurch.

Whangarei's men's fours on March 24-25 and Hikurangi men's triples on April 21-22 are both looking for entries. Please contact the clubs concerned.
