This weekend sees the first Centre fixture of the new season with the Club Pennants being held at clubs throughout the area. The draw is:

The Auckland Premier Open Singles will be held next weekend and seven Northlanders have entered. There are 80 entries, including Northlanders Chris Budge, Anne Bateman, Savanna Lauder, Margaret Gurney, Leanne Stewart, Lauren Mills, Diane Strawbridge. The North Harbour Mens Kostanich Memorial Singles are also being played the same weekend but to date I have been unable to see the draw to find out how many men from our Centre have entered. Kamo Bowling Club are holding their 'Have a Go at Bowls Day' on September 24 from 1pm to 3.30pm. Their greens are in Bush Rd and they would welcome you coming along to try the game, free with bowls supplied.
Most clubs have now opened for the summer and tournaments are being held at Ngunguru AC Triples on September 19; Maungakaramea on September 20; Mangawhai men 2x4x2 pairs September 22 and 23; Onerahi 2x4x2 womens pairs on September 23.
Several Northlanders have also joined clubs in the Auckland Centre as dual members this year and it is off to a good start for Ken Fitness who has combined with Kirsty Hill out of the Onehunga & Districts Clubs to reach the semifinals of the Auckland Centre Mixed Pairs.
The first representative tournament of the season will be held on Sunday, October 2 when the Northern Region will hold the 1-5 year and 1-8 year first tournament at Waipu for Women and Mangawhai for Men. Teams from Auckland, North Harbour, Far North and Northland will take part in this annual tournament.
