Northland came up short in their quest to redeem themselves against Auckland.

In the second edition of the Northland vs. Auckland Junior match-up, Auckland came up trumps after storming home on the last day.

The first edition was played at Titirangi golf club in 2015 where Auckland were the convincing winners.

It acts as a lead in event to the junior interprovincial, which is being played in Cambridge later this month.

Waipu Golf Club played host to a range of junior golfers from Northland and Auckland over the weekend and the players were treated to some fabulous weather around the Bream Bay coast.

Eight players from each district made up the sides competing with five players in the Under 19 age group and three under 16s.

Northland took the early lead on Saturday beating their rivals from the big smoke 4.5 points to 3.5.

Wins to Taylor Gill, Julian Fowler, Jamie Thomas and Bradley Foster were complicated by Christian Nitsche halving his match on the 18th green.

Auckland again took the honours, defeating Northland 9.5 to 6.5.

Northland's team was made up of Christian Nitsche, Taylor Gill, Julian Fowler, Jamie Thomas, Ben Bowmar, Christopher Shepherd George (all under 19s), Bradley Foster, Tarrin Rous & Cole Allen (under 16s).
