Kylie Jacoby has repeated her 2016 efforts by retaining the Elaine Bledisloe Cup.

Waitangi Golf Club was the host for the 65th annual Elaine Bledisloe 72-Hole Ladies Matchplay Tournament at a later date than usual.

Normally held on the last weekend of July, the date was moved to September in the hopes of seeing more daylight and a drier golf course.

They were only half right because although the light stayed longer; the course was soaked and heavy underfoot. Luckily only a couple of passing showers breezed through during the two-day tournament.

The top division was this year made up of eight players with handicaps ranging from 0-8.3, with golfers playing an 18-hole strokeplay on the first morning before seeded matchplay was slated for the rest of the competition.

From the onset Waipu's Jacoby and Northland Golf Club's Jenny Peters were the ones to keep an eye on. They maintained their form until they met in the final where Jacoby proved too strong for Peters.

The Elaine Bledisloe Cup was not the only piece of silverware up for grabs for the field of 54.

Thirteen-year-old Setiny Pheng was incredibly impressive in Division Two, winning and taking out the Waitangi Cup while holding off Jackie McGlasson.

Ngunguru's Maggie Ackland had her name etched in the Kerikeri Cup for leading Division Three, beating out Pamela Waters.

There was also a fourth division of strokeplay. This involved 18 holes on both days playing for best net, gross and stableford. Waitangi's Jane Wubben took advantage of her home course to clinch the Paihia Cup.
