Whangarei based. BBS Timbers, has a 35 year history as a reputable importer and wholesaler of specialty timbers from all over the world - for high quality applications in a broad range of sectors including interior and exterior joinery, flooring and decking, cabinet making, boatbuilding, and heavy construction. This family
owned and operated business currently employs a team of 40, spread between home base in Whangarei and branches in Auckland and Christchurch.
We are now looking for that special person to join our established team. This is a newly created position to allow the Managing Director to step back from the day to day management of the business, as well as inject fresh leadership into the organisation.
You will report to the Managing Director - and ideally you will be able to tick the following boxes:
At least 5 years proven experience in an Operations
Management or General Management role, and / or had
senior responsibility in either a Supply Chain Management, Purchasing or Key Account Management position
An existing knowledge of specialty timber products would
be considered a distinct advantage - gained either as a
timber importer or from direct exposure to these products
via the building and construction trades
Proven leadership skills with an emphasis on driving and
achieving business targets and outcomes
A very capable communicator with excellent
interpersonal and networking skills (staff, clients,
suppliers, stakeholders)
Commercially and financially astute, with a high level of
attention to detail. Able to prepare budgets and a
fundamental understanding of key financial reports and
ratios
An understanding of 'best practice' when it comes to HR and H&S
A highly positive, enthusiastic and energetic persona
Prepared to commit to a long term engagement
