GC star Rosanna Arkle not talking

A Whangarei woman who starred in controversial reality television show The GC says her lips are sealed as to whether she will be appearing in the second series.

Rosanna Arkle, now a glamour model across the ditch in Australia, was one of the 11-strong cast in the show's first season that was a hit on the small screen.

The GC tracked the everyday lives of a group of "Mozzies" - local slang for Maori Australians - living on the Gold Coast, and was touted as the new Jersey Shore.

A full film crew followed the group for about two months, while they were living in their summer holiday home called "The Whare" in Broadbeach.

New Zealand On Air gave $420,000 towards the making of the show.

And it seems it has drawn an overwhelming critical response with a Facebook page calling for its cancellation popping up soon after screening.

This month, funding agency Te Mangai Paho took the unusual step of front-footing why it was spending $419,384 plus GST on the second series of the show.

The Advocate contacted Miss Arkle via Facebook asking if she was part of the second series.

Her response was: "I have been sworn to secrecy for now."

The man behind The GC, Bailey Mackey, said people were entitled not to like his stuff but he's going to keep telling contemporary Maori stories the way he wants to.
