Under a beautiful yet unforgiving Northland sun, the region's secondary schools converged on Trigg Sports Arena in Whangārei for the Northland secondary schools athletics championships on Thursday.

Northern Advocate photographer Michael Cunningham was there to capture the future stars of Northland athletics in action.
