A call has gone out for music artists keen to be on the next instalment of Fritter.
It comes from Big Door Studio in Whangarei as it hunts for talented musicians looking to have their music published in a new Fritter compilation.
The Fritter series, featuring songwriters and musicians fromaround Northland, is now up to its sixth edition and has helped musical artists from the North get their work into the national and international public arena.
"This series gives local artists a place to present their skills and talent to the world. Northland has produced some high quality musicians over the years and a lot of them have had songs on the Fritter compilations," said Big Door Studio owner Brendon White.
"Some artists have even got their music on to television shows like Grey's Anatomy and this sort of publicity from a publishing deal can create a lot of income that the selling of albums no longer produces."
Big Door was still contemplating the most effective format for the latest compilation considering today's online and mobile environment.
The compilation would be distributed worldwide, he said.
"Since the demise of the CD musicians have to think outside the square to get somewhere in the industry. To promote and extend the breadth of their advertising arms musicians need to be part of opportunities like this compilation." Fritter 6 would be sent to influential people in the music industry including publishers, television, radio, movie producers, magazines and music reviewers to achieve widespread distribution and maximise the chance for a prosperous outcome.
Completed submissions for Fritter 6 need to be handed in at Wards MusicWorks, Cameron St, Whangarei, before the end of New Zealand Music Month on May 31 for consideration.
