Onerahi continue to maintain their lead at the top of the Northland Premier division after beating Tikipunga AFC 2-0.

Onerahi are yet to be defeated in 2018 and, despite a committed showing from the visiting Tikipunga outfit, rarely looked likely to go down.

Strong performances from the likes of Harley Freeman and Tom Bradshaw put Onerahi in good stead in front of their home supporters to make it six wins from six.

Tikipunga's Steve Crowley and Drew Kitchen both had strong outings for their side, which remains in fourth spot on the ladder.

Kamo kept their chase for the top spot going with a resounding 6-1 win over Bream Bay United.

Doubles to Jeremy Rintoul and Darren Green led the way for the home side as an own goal and Sam Nimmo completed their goal-scoring exploits.

Those six goals brought their season total up to 22, leading the way in the competition.

Meanwhile Kerikeri picked up three points without stepping foot on the park after a late default from FC Whangārei.

In Lotto NRFL Division Two action, Northland FC earned a point against Cambridge FC after a round trip to the Waikato of about 600km.

With former All Whites coach Ricki Herbert in attendance, Max Thomas opened the visitors' account with a cross shot via a deflection from a tight angle.

All that was set up by some great link play with Jordan Rudman.

Northland tried in vain to double their advantage and had a few opportunities in the first 30 minutes as Joel Crawford hit the post from a corner and returning midfielder Jonny Fletcher fired over from the edge of the area.

The second half saw Cambridge revitalised, and they equalised eight minutes after the restart through Daniel Clarkin who followed up from a free kick inside the penalty area.

In the 63rd minute Kyran Winterburn caressed a 20-yard, right-footed volley into the top corner for the visitors, an excellent way to score your first goal at senior level for the club.

The lead was to last less than a quarter of an hour as Cambridge equalised in the 78th minute through Elliot Cooper and pinned the boys in blue back into their defensive third.

Northland couldn't pick up the winner in the last few minutes, settling for the away draw.

Coach Dan Johnston was fairly happy with the effort.

"We created enough chances and maybe tried to force it a bit in the final third, although if you had offered me a point at the start of the day I probably would have taken it.

"In saying that, I feel we have the quality in our squad to be winning games like this. Everybody pulled together today though- it's days on the road like this that you really feel part of something good."

Northland FC are playing at home next week against Onehunga Mangere.

Elsewhere the Northland FC women's team picked up a vital 1-0 win away win over Norwest United.

A first half goal off the head of Abby Wright proved the ultimate difference as the Northland women showed a lot of defensive fortitude.

Norwest United tried valiantly to claw back the deficit but were unable to do so, giving Northland the three AFF/NFF Women's Conference points.
