The performance kept them in touch with top two sides - Kerikeri Bay Builders and Onerahi Cowleys Hire.
Both these sides clashed in a battle of the best, with Kerikeri making sure they rebounded from their Chatham Cup loss last weekend to Manukau City.
They toppled their nearest rivals 2-1, pushing them four points above Onerahi.
Meanwhile Kamo continued their good form to maul Bream Bay United 4-0.
The four goals puts them back into a positive goal difference for the season, which will be vital with their clash against Onerahi next week.
Tikipunga rebounded from a loss to Madhatters with a 7-1 drubbing of FC Whangarei in the final match of the round.
In the Lotto NRFL Division 2, Northland FC moved up to third with a 3-1 win over Papakura City in Auckland yesterday. The conditions were tough, with the weather intent on displaying a sample from all four seasons, but a good quality game saw the boys in blue come away with all three points.
Head coach Dan Johnston said: "It was great to see the lads perform so well and bounce back from the Mangers defeat, it's a shame we couldn't keep the clean sheet but it's a great experience for our younger lads- you can't switch off for a second in this league or you get punished."
Northland started well and soaked up early pressure before growing into the game. They took control through Kabiro Hatfull-Njenga who finished off a fine team move early in the first half. The score remained that way until the break, although Northland created the lion's share of the chances.
Five minutes into the second half, captain Steve Schimmel won and converted a penalty to double their lead. Substitute Joel Crawford lofted a through ball over the defence a short while later with Mark Ruddell capitalising on a goalkeeping error to seal the deal.
Papakura mounted a late comeback and Keenan Peters grabbed a consolation goal, but it wasn't enough.
