The Northland Centre representative teams have been announced by the selectors.

The following players have entered the Centre First Year Open Tournament scheduled to be played at Whangarei greens on Saturday.

MEN:

Neville Bakalich (One Tree Pt); Roand O'Gormon (Mt Manaia); Gordon Wright, George Smith (Kensington); Ash Joyce. Mike Cassidy, Keith Brush, (Leigh), David Springette, Euan MacGregor, Scott Morrison (One Tree Pt); Keith Stewart (Mangawhai), Gordon Campbell, Trevor Mehassy (Kamo).

CENTRE JUNIOR (1-5 YEAR) PAIRS:

Five men's teams and four women's teams qualified in this event. It was great to see first-year bowlers taking part in this event and in some instances qualifying for post-section play.

Well done to all teams, there were some exciting and competitive games played with many being good enough to be the final of the event.

There were some exciting new players on display and all played outstanding bowls, with tight heads and close results the outcome.

RESULTS MEN:
Round 1: R. Trigg (Kamo), R. Taylor (Kensington), Graeme Egerton (Mangawhai) (Byes). Les Scott (Onerahi) beat Jason Webb (Arapohue) 18-15.
Round 2: Taylor beat Trigg 16-12; Scott beat Egerton 20-12.
Round 3: Les Scott and David Smith beat Roy Taylor and George Smith - 18-7.
This was a first centre title for Scott and Smith. Congratulations.

WOMEN:
Round 1: Eva Chrol (Composite) beat Margaret Swney (Mangawhai) 25-3; Mona Guttenbeil (Mangawhai) beat Heather Smeath (Kamo) 13-11.

Round 2: Eva Chrol (Kensington and Ana Greenwood (Mangawhai) beat Mona Guttenbeil and Tina Harris (Mangawhai) 17-9.

This match was a repeat of last year's final between the same teams. This win gave Eva and Ana their second junior title and completed their first point to a Centre Gold Star.
Congratulations to all.

And congratulations to Wayne Wrack, who, by winning the Centre Open singles last weekend, reached a milestone when he overtook the late Bill McMillan as the most successful singles player in Northland. He is also edging closer to 60 individual singles victories which includes club championships, representative games, super bowls, and other open tournaments that he has competed in.

Women's Open (to compete in Wellington) Sue Wightman, Marny Jones, Leanne Stewart, Maureen Parker, Maree Attwood, Lauren Mills, Diane Lawrence.

Men's Open (to compete in Wellington) Gordon Bond, Sam Nelson, Dean McMurchy, Dennis Brewster, Steve Smith, Alistair Trimmer, Paul Wightman.

Women's 1-8 (to compete in Christchurch): Chris Budge, Jenny Hardie, Mona Guttenbeil, Judi Moyle, Laurel Jones, Jan Hollingsworth, Carol Neeley.

Men's 1-8 (to compete in Christchurch): Rob Anderson, Reece Jones, Garry Fraser, Kelvin Bint, Jason Webb, Trevor Moyle, Bill Harris.

Bowls on Television: The Australian league (three player pairs) is coming to Auckland and will be played at Sunnybrae Bowling Club (daytime) and North Shore Events Centre (evening sessions) from February 27 to March 2.

New Zealand are the current champions of this event and our team includes Shannon McIlroy, the current World Bowls singles champion. This event will also be live on Sky Television.

Centre 1-8 Open Any combination triples will be held on Sunday, March 5 at Kensington. Entries are now open.

Please get your team together and get your entry in. Teams do not have to be of the same club, so get together with your friends and join in.

Secondary Schools Tournament will be played at Kamo greens on Friday, March 10. Open to all secondary schools in Northland to enter. Please check the Sport Northland website for entries.

Tournament change of dates: Hikurangi Women's Sixes will now be played on Wednesday, March 22; Whangarei Doel Pairs will be played from April 8-9; Kamo Brydon Men's Triples will now be played on Saturday, April 29. Please re-enter each event.

Tournaments this week: February 25: Ruawai Men's Triples; February 25-26: Leigh Men's Fours; Kensington Mx Fours; February 28: Whangarei AC Triples; March 1: Maungatapere Men's Triples, Onerahi AC Triples; March 2: Mangawhai Inv Men's Fours; March 3-5: NZ Interclub Finals - Auckland; March 4: Mamaranui AC Triples; March 4-5: Waipu Men's Fours; March 5: Centre March 1-8 AC Triples.
