There was a good turnout of riders at the annual 110km Fred Ogle Memorial Race with former Commonwealth Games bronze medallist Gordon McCauley pipped at the post by fellow Aucklander Steve Ferminger for this year's title, with Nick Jowsey third.
The annual race is held to remember the lives oftwo Whangarei cyclists - Fred Ogle and Lynley MacDonald - who were tragically killed while riding in the Whangarei region in 2008.
The women's race winner Laura Newman-Watt won the Lynley MacDonald Memorial Trophy ahead of fellow Aucklander Renee Wootten with Sarah Prinder in third.
Waipapa's Frances Cassells was the first junior home, followed by Kurt Coetzee.
