Fatal crash in Northland

One person is dead, another has life threatening injuries and a child has moderate injuries following a crash involving a bridge in Northland.

Police were called to the serious crash on Pouto Road in the Kaipara District about 3.50pm today.

The crash involved a single motor vehicle that collided with a bridge.

One persondied at the scene, another has life threatening injuries and a young child has moderate injuries.

Fire, St John ambulanceand Police were in attendance and the Westpac Rescue Helicopter flew to the scene from Auckland.

Pouto Road is expected to be closed for some time, Police are requesting that motorists consider delaying their travel until a scene examination is complete.
