Another farm on Purerua Peninsula has already been turned into an exclusive farm park for the super-wealthy.
Former Northland man Peter Cooper, who appears on New Zealand's rich list frequently, is behind an exclusive $450 million development called Mountain Landing. The 340-hectare farm park is steeped in Maori history and was occupied by the country's first missionaries.
Mr Cooper preserved the historic sites while carving out 39 sections with multimillion-dollar price tags. He was instrumental in developing the Britomart transport hub in downtown Auckland.
In 1989 he quit corporate management in New Zealand, and with wife Sue and five children moved to California.
He commutes between homes in California and Auckland.
