Entries are pouring in for a competition which will give one person the chance to perform with New Zealand singer Aaradhna.
The Ngapuhi Festival, being held in Whangarei next year, has launched a singing competition called Iwi Idol- where young singers can record and submit a video of themselves towin a chance to perform with Aaradhna at the event.
Entries have almost doubled in a week with 30 applications in as of yesterdaycompared to 16 on Tuesday last week.
It is the first time the New Zealand R&B and soul artist has been involved with a competition like this, organisers said.
To enter, people living in New Zealand, who must be aged 25 or younger, can submit a one-minute video of themselves performing their favourite song. Duets and trios will also be accepted.
Submissions close 5pm on Friday and a public voting process on Facebook will begin next Monday.
The 10 finalists with the most votes will be invited to perform at the Ngapuhi Festival on January 27 and the ultimate winner - who will be chosen by a panel - will perform with Aaradhna.
