A school employee who admitted taking more than $30,000 from a Northland primary school can now be named.
Nisha Nazzmeen Marsh, a former administrator at Kawakawa Primary School, pleaded guilty to 18 charges in the Kaikohe District Court on Tuesday.
Thirteen charges were for writing out cheques to herself from
the school fundraising account - the legal term is using a document for pecuniary advantage - and five were for theft by a person in a special relationship.
Her offending came to light when an audit of the school's finances revealed multiple fraudulent transactions. The offending began in December 2012 and ended in March 2014.
Four of the theft charges relate to cash which was supposed to be banked, totalling $5867.79, while the fifth relates to fuel worth $4088.13. The 13 cheques added up to $21,023.83.
