Gabrielle "Gabs" Davenport.

Gabrielle "Gabs" Davenport.

Out of all the bachelorettes vying for the attention of Jordan Mauger on TV3's The Bachelor, Kerikeri's Gabrielle "Gabs" Davenport seemed to have the best handle on the show's non-feminist friendly concept.

For the purposes of TV entertainment, multiple women compete on the show to date one man, who picks and chooses as he pleases until there is one woman left.

There is of course, the chance of finding true love. It is the show's only positive note for anyone trying to defend the misogynistic path toward what is ultimately monogamy; if you can stomach the polygamistical snogging along the way.

And to be fair, Mauger seems uncomfortable with the decisions he has to make.

Though it does seem to be akin to being an amorous kid in a lolly shop in a Willy Wonka land where the Oompa Loompas have been replaced by hot chicks.

Gabs appeared to realise she was in Willy Wonka land, and that it was a game, which could work in her favour if she found love. And if it didn't, que sera sera, whatever will be will be.

Chanel Whareumu, on the other hand, knows what her future looks like, because today she was married after being engaged for just 48 hours.

This sounds more hasty than it actually is.

Chanel and her husband Moses have an 8-year-old child together, they have been together nine years. And when Moses proposed on Tuesday, there was another surprise - with the help of Chanel's family and friends he had organised their wedding ... and it was today.

And so they got married 48 hours after Chanel had said "I do".

Chanel got to choose her own dress, of course, and says she loves that Moses wanted to take the wedding organisation stress out of her hands.

It's the sort of thing that a man does for a woman that he knows very well, and loves very much.

And it's also the sort of thing that a show like The Bachelor cannot replicate - deep, unconditional love.

Hopefully, one day, Gabs will find her Moses.
