Editorial: New look for online news site

This afternoon, we introduce our new look website - www.northernadvocate.co.nz - which puts local news and your stories first.

As well as providing local and national news updated throughout the day, our new website helps you connect with our local community - and share stories that matter to you.

Take a look at some of the new features.

The home page delivers the best local stories, photos, videos, comments from readers and national news. There are easy links found in the sub navigation to Local, Regional News, Sport, Business, Rural, Life and Entertainment. The Life section is the new home of Gardening, Fashion, Recipes, Travel and more.

Finding your way around the new site is easiest when you use the top navigation menu.

Things To Do is a new section that lets you find an event by location, date or category and features the latest entertainment stories.

It also features local events - contributed by the community. If you have an event coming up, add it here for free. Simply login to the site (or register first if you haven't already) and add all the details.

Your Community, with your help, will become the hub of the community. Here you will find all things local plus you can share your story or opinion with the community with Your Story.

The Motoring section features the latest news, listings, reviews, photo galleries, road tests and even a sneak peak at future models.

Our Property section will feature local properties for sale as well as the best advice covering everything from borrowing to saving and investing.
