When Paul Henry was spat upon during a protest outside the Sky City Convention Centre, there wasn't a lot of sympathy in some quarters.

Henry makes a living out of being a smart ass. He ridicules, belittles and humiliates people.

There are probably a few people who'd like to spit on him.

In the same week that the spitter was found guilty, abusive graffiti was sprayed on the walls of a TV3 building. It wasn't complimentary towards Henry.

Again, a portion of the nation shrugged and went "the guy gets what he deserves".
I haven't watched Paul Henry on television since 2009.

If he has turned his volume knob down a little in recent years, then good on him.
Henry can be funny, erudite, he's very bright.

But I stopped watching when he belittled Susan Boyle, a singer with a brain injury who won Britain's Got Talent. I'm close to someone with a brain injury.

My tolerance level of his shock jock schtick ran out.

The day Henry was spat on, he happened to be in the wrong place at the wrong time.

The protesters were ranting about John Key. Henry was scuttling past on his way to a charity lunch. The protesters spotted him, and got stuck in.

Spitting on someone is pretty low, but if that's the type of bottom feeder Henry attracts then perhaps he needs to take stock.

"People have a right to protest, and expression is very important and should be upheld. But this was beyond where people should go," Henry said.
