Four drink-drivers were caught by Northland police over the weekend.

Four drink-drivers were caught driving over the legal limit when stopped by police at checkpoints throughout Northland between Friday and Monday.

Sergeant Ryan Gray said about 9.50am on Friday, a 56-year-old male driver in a BMW was stopped on Paparoa Valley Rd and he blew 868 micrograms of alcohol per litre of breath.
The legal limit for motorists aged 20 and over is 250 micrograms of alcohol per litre of breath - or 50 milligrams per 100 millilitres of blood - while there is a zero limit for motorists aged under 20.

About 7.30am on Saturday, a 37-year-old female driver blew 689mcg when stopped at Teone Rd in Ruakaka.

Three hours later, a 28-year-old man was stopped in Kaiwaka and returned a reading of 799mcg.

At 12.20am on Sunday, a 19-year-old female driver was stopped on Marsden Rd and blew 239mcg.
